How to find the most searched words on Google WITHOUT Google’s keyword tool
The number of searches on Google every day is astounding. How can you find those keywords and use them in your keyword analysis?
With over six billion searches worldwide every day, the words which are searched for the most on Google have some crazy volumes. Do you want to find out what these words are? Of course you do!
As part of our comprehensive SEO guide, we’ve explained about keywords, their importance, and how to do a keyword analysis with free tools. But, one question which we know that everyone wants answered is: what are the most searched words on Google?
Should you use the Google keyword tool?
The Google keywords tool is a very useful tool if you intend on running a Pay Per Click or AdWords campaign. Using this tool will help you to identify which keywords you should be targeting for a paid campaign, based on search volumes and clicks. However, if you don’t want to use AdWords but want to know the most searched keywords for your keyword analysis, there are other ways to do so.
What are the most searched words on Google?
There are a number of ways to find the most searched terms on Google. In our previous chapter, we linked to some of the best keyword analysis tools. Most of these tools offer search volumes for the keywords you’re looking to rank for.
However, for solely finding out the most searched words in Google, without using Google’s keyword tool, here are the best options:
- Google Trends – This is the best keyword analysis tool. The data comes straight from Google, so it can tell you the most searched words at the current time. You can choose the country and topic. At the end of the year, Google Trends will tell you the most searched keywords for the whole year.
Google Trends also allows you to see how popular the search is over time. Has it always had a high search volume, or has it only increased recently? You can compare the popularity of various search terms, which is so useful when you’re choosing the keywords you want to use for your business.
- Google Search – Have you ever started typing something into Google and it pops up with a list of keywords that it thinks you’re searching for? This is because most people (in your country) are searching for these words.
Should you target the most searched words on Google?
Although everyone wants to know those high search terms, they aren’t necessarily the best keywords to target, as the competition is extremely high. If you wrote an in-depth article about Brexit in 2016, it would have been hard to rank for. This is where long-tail keywords come into action. You can find out all about those in the next chapter.
The key to success is finding keywords with a high search volume and a good cost per click for your business. The more specific your keywords are, the higher the rate of people clicking on them and finding exactly what they want. This is really important.
For now, look at the most searched words on Google for ideas and inspiration to see what people are looking for online. But, when it comes to choosing your own keywords to target, be cautious about targeting the most searched words on Google.
