This startup offers a ‘book a gardener online’ service, and was looking to generate leads for their gardener database so that they could prove the concept, expand, and possibly look at future investment.
The goal of the SEO and PPC campaign they asked us to run was lead generation – both picking up gardeners to add to their database, but also homeowners looking for a gardener that they could conveniently book online.
We started by carrying out keyword research, identifying the phrases and locations that were going to bring in the most leads. We suggested the changes to make to the website to optimise it but, due to the restrictions of the platform, we weren’t able to do the basic onsite SEO.
We then began the Content Marketing campaign, which included publishing content on sites like Houzz (using gardening tips/trends angles) and technology sites (using the crowdfunding angle, as the client was about to start crowdfunding on Seedr.
This content campaign started generating a lot of links, and the crowdfunding angle was a particular hit. One press release picked up 1,200 links, including one on Yahoo News (DA100).
The nature of this business is seasonal – people look for a gardener during a very specific time frame – so we didn’t have long from the start of the campaign at the end of March to the busy season.
