Last week our Tim and Amen headed over to the NEC in Birmingham for the BDTA Dental Showcase. We decided with a week to go that we’d be exhibiting, so it was all hands on deck to make sure everything was ready in time.
Thanks to some late nights and plenty of 24 hour delivery options, everything was in place by the time doors opened on Thursday morning and we had an enjoyable 3 days talking to hundreds of dentists about their online marketing.
It was great to meet so many hungry business owners, and copies of our books How to Get to the Top of Google (Amazon UK link US link) and Profitable Social Media Marketing (Amazon UK link US link) were second in popularity only to the Liquorice Allsorts and Wine gums.
Dental Online Marketing Quick Tips
Having spoken to so many dentists and practice business managers, here are the things we found kept coming up:
- Very few dental practices are using social media effectively, but the ones that have embraced it are seeing very good results
- Good Google rank alone is not enough to make a profitable online marketing presence. The website itself needs to look professional, answer all the potential customer’s questions and concerns, and by conversion optimised. Free reports, good value checkups and other ‘bait’ can be used to entice potential patients to leave their contact details, allowing follow up (both automated and phone)
- New practice owners really appreciate the value of a good quality web presence, as they need to build a significant customer list very quickly
- In general, few dental practices have what we’d call ‘ninja’ websites. Many are dated and lack basic conversion optimisation or lead generation elements
It was great to meet some of the other exhibitors too, including Christian from First Medical Training.
We’re already looking forward to Dental Showcase 2014 with a higher profile stand and plenty more books! And of course Liquorice allsorts.
